Positive: Gorgeous house. Comfortable amenities. Friendly cleaning staff and neighbors. The kotatsu was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked.
Negative: As expected, it was a little difficult to navigate from the parking lot after dark when we first arrived. But the directions on our map application were sufficient to get us there. We wished there were some more forks and spoons available, maybe wine or beer glasses. Also, a smaller frying pan for cooking breakfast in the morning would have been nice.
Summary: This was a gorgeous comfortable and convenient setting for a vacation with my family visiting from the United States.

Positive: The place is wonderful, very typical, very clean, the bed and futons are really confortable. Everything is really well done in this house and make you really feel in Japon. Moreover, the garden is very spacious. The owner let you a recommandation guide very beautiful and conveniant. The owner is really easy to contact, and will give you fast answer.

Positive: For guests who are in Onomichi for a cycling trip, access to the washer and dryer (which they have two sets!) is a huge bonus! However, it’s a bit tricky to use them without any instructions, and we couldn’t find the light switch for the back porch where the washer and dryer were located, which made doing laundry even more challenging.
Negative: Tbh, the house doesn’t look exactly like in the photos. The overall design and upkeep don’t seem very consistent, it feels more like the house has been renovated, but not in the most authentic or functional way. There were also a few decorative door panels - not actual doors, but freestanding add-on pieces with a out of place aesthetic theme - oddly placed on the engawa, the wooden corridor that runs along the outside of a traditional Japanese house. They stood there for no apparent reason, blocking the garden view and clashing with the beauty of the teien layout. Some maintenance or housekeeping items were also just tucked away in random corners or behind paper doors, which guests could easily come across when trying to appreciate the design and structure of the house. Overall, I think the house itself is great. It has a reasonably good location and a lovely yard. However, the house doesn’t feel very “happy”. It’s beautiful, but you can sense it hasn’t been truly cared for or loved in the way it deserves. Which is a shame, because it has so much potential and spirit waiting to be brought back to life.

Positive: We absolutely loved our stay at this villa, it was one of the best highlights of our trip! Every detail of the home was beautiful, and the host was super helpful. The beds were unbelievably comfortable, and out of the five places we stayed during our travels, nothing came close to the experience we had here.
Negative: It’s a bit of a walk from any store or restaurant, but still completely manageable.
Summary: Beautiful traditional home! Definitely stay here.

Positive: You will fall in love with this place. Every amenity is carefully designed and facility is more than great. The owner is really good at communicating.

Positive: What a magical house! Staying in the house is really an experience; the decorations, the rooms,..staying here was a real treat. It is a little outside the city, about 15 min walk from shops but had a parking spot nearby, it's own private garden, and many amenities. We loved the bathroom and the Tatami beds were incredibly comfortable. Would have stayed here longer
